Canada is set to launch the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots on March 31, 2025, introducing a streamlined pathway to permanent residency for caregivers. These new programs will replace the previous Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots, which concluded on June 17, 2024.

Key Features of the New Pilots:

Direct Permanent Residency: Qualified caregivers and their family members will receive permanent resident status upon arrival in Canada, eliminating previous delays.

Reduced Requirements: The pilots lower language and education thresholds, requiring a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 and a high school diploma.

No Prior Canadian Experience Needed: Applicants don’t need prior Canadian work experience but must have recent relevant experience or related training and a full-time job offer in home care.

Flexible Employment Options: Caregivers can work with various employers, including private households and home care organizations, without needing a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

Eligibility Criteria:

Language Proficiency: Achieve a minimum CLB level 4 in English or French.

• Education: Hold at least a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience or Training: Possess at least six months of recent, relevant work experience or have completed related caregiver training.

Job Offer: Secure a full-time job offer in home care within Canada, outside Quebec.

Application Streams:

1. Workers in Canada: For caregivers already working in Canada; this stream will accept applications starting March 31, 2025.

2. Applicants Not Working in Canada: For those outside Canada; this stream will open at a later date

Preparing to Apply:

Prospective applicants can prepare by gathering language proficiency proof, educational credential assessments, and securing job offers. Full eligibility details will be announced before the pilots open.
