IRCC Holds New CEC Express Entry Draw: 2,000 ITAs Issued
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has continued its focus on transitioning temporary residents to permanent residence by conducting a new Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Express Entry draw today.
Draw Highlights
The latest CEC-specific draw issued:
● 2,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs)
● Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score: 517
● Tie-breaking rule: Candidates with a CRS score of 517 needed to have submitted their Express Entry profile before the specified tie-breaking date and time announced by IRCC. (CIC News)
This draw follows yesterday’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, demonstrating that IRCC continues its pattern of conducting back-to-back Express Entry rounds targeting candidates who are already contributing to Canada’s economy. (CIC News)
What This Means
Today’s draw reinforces the Canadian government’s continued emphasis on inviting skilled workers with Canadian work experience. The Canadian Experience Class remains one of the most attractive pathways to permanent residence for international graduates and temporary foreign workers who have successfully integrated into the Canadian labour market.
Although the CRS cut-off increased slightly compared to some earlier CEC draws this year, it remains within the expected range seen throughout 2026. This indicates that competition in the Express Entry pool remains strong while IRCC continues to issue invitations regularly. (CIC News)
A Positive Sign for Temporary Residents
For many temporary residents already living and working in Canada, today’s draw is encouraging news. It confirms that IRCC continues to prioritize candidates with Canadian work experience, recognizing their ability to contribute immediately to Canada’s economy and labour market.
Candidates who narrowly missed today’s CRS cut-off should not lose hope. Express Entry scores fluctuate from draw to draw, and there are several ways to improve your CRS score, including:
● Improving your English or French language test results.
● Gaining additional skilled Canadian work experience.
● Completing additional education.
● Obtaining a valid provincial nomination, which adds 600 CRS points.
● Exploring category-based selection opportunities if you qualify.
Our Advice
If you are currently working in Canada or have recently completed your studies, now is an excellent time to ensure your Express Entry profile is accurate and up to date. Many candidates miss opportunities because they fail to update their language results, work experience, educational credentials, or family information.
If your CRS score is below today’s cut-off, don’t be discouraged. Every point matters, and a strategic plan can significantly improve your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply.
